HvA Game Project Playbook
A method of producing a game which let students practice with key aspects of game design and development.
At the HvA we prefer to approach game projects where we measure competence and ability by the products that are being created. Mainly the game itself in its many incarnations, be it proof of concept, prototype and final product, is a demonstrator of the students abilities. We highly value that creators are able to produce meaningful experiences for players. And that they are made in a professional manner.
Key features:
- Playcentric design method
- Player-centered
- Prototype and playtest early and frequently
- Iterative process
- Lean UX method
A project at the HvA can usually be defined in three main phases.
- Pitch
- Design and Development
- Final Product
Each phase has its own distinct set of activities and their own set of deliverables.
Project moves on to the next phase when the deliverables have been approved by the stakeholders (lecturers and/or client).
Goal

In the first phase of a game project you will be tasked to come up with a proposal for a game. The goal is to get your team’s proposal approved. To do this you need to come up with a game design and development plan which meets the requirements and expectations of the stakeholders (lecturer, client).
