Game Design Moodboard
Describe gameplay ideas and discuss them with others.
WHY USE THIS?
When starting a new project, use a game design moodboard to spark your creativity, get inspired and align your vision as a team. With this tool you will capture inspiring ideas rapidly, without overthinking their feasibility.
HOW TO MAKE ONE
Use this template or open a digital document where you can place images and text, preferably a collaborative tool (such as Miro, Mural or Google Slides) so that all team members can contribute.
- Start from your initial game idea and go play related games. To save time, you can also start your research by watching gameplay videos instead.
- Give your moodboard a name.
- Collect ideas such as potentially reusable mechanics, interesting game situations, innovative patterns in the genre, etc.
- Grab a screenshot or gif from each gameplay element that you find interesting and place it on the moodboard. Add a few words describing noteworthy mechanics, dynamics, or aesthetics.
